No. The acrylic resins used in Staron® Solid Surfaces are unaffected by the ultraviolet rays present in natural light, so its colour will not fade. However, Staron® Solid Surfaces are not intended for outdoor use because of the potential for extreme weather conditions, pollutants and other contaminants.

Staron® Solid Surfaces are heat‐resistant and will remain stable and undamaged up to 100˚ C. However, high heat or flames can damage the surface; yet, in most cases, damage can be repaired. To protect the work top surface, always use a heat pad or trivet. Or think of the stainless steel heat rails near a hob where hot pans can be placed without worry.

Solid surfaces are not intended to be used as a flooring material, though it has been used as stair treads. Even then, only colours with large particulate patterns are used to mask signs of wear.

We thought you’d never ask. If granite is not sealed regularly, it can become stained, and harbor bacteria, viruses and mold. Seams in granite are also difficult to keep clean.
Staron® Solid Surfaces are non-porous with smooth, impenetrable seams to prevent unwelcomed germs and mildew. Staron® Solid Surfaces are also more impact‐resistant than granite; plus, curved and circular designs are easier and less expensive to fabricate using Staron®.

Laminates may separate over time if exposed to moisture. Staron® Solid Surfaces are solid and homogenous, impenetrable to moisture. Laminates may also be damaged easily by nicks and stains, and cannot be repaired like Staron®.

Tile has many seams where bacteria, viruses and mold can accumulate. Grout between tiles must be cleaned frequently and often cracks.
Staron® Solid Surfaces have smooth, impenetrable seams and are more impact‐resistant than tile.

Visit the Care and Maintenance section for additional information. The basic rule of thumb is to only use a mild abrasive using a scratch pad if your Staron® surface is installed in a matte finish. If the surface was installed in a high‐gloss finish, stick with an ammonia-based glass cleaner. Do not use scratching pads of any type on a high‐gloss finish.

It is possible, but depends on the style of sink and the details of the existing installation. Check with your local fabricator.

Yes. Though there are some common fixture sizes, we highly recommend selecting the sink and tap before your custom worktop is created by a fabricator.

Absolutely. We've provided examples of the most common edges that majority of fabricators are equipped to build. Talk to your local builder or fabricator to get the edge treatment you have in mind.
